The Equipment Status view displays the most recent status of all equipment known to the system for an operator. This includes containers, chassis, and accessories. It is important to note that the Equipment Status view is an equipment-oriented view, rather than a unit-oriented view. For example, there is a row in the list view for each piece of equipment associated with a unit, rather than a single row representing the unit and all of the equipment associated with it as in most other N4 views.
Equipment will not display in this list view unless it is currently, or was previously, attached to a unit.
In each row, the view displays equipment attributes such as type, owner, damage, and the current role of the equipment. In addition, it displays the details of the unit in which the equipment most recently participated. In this view, if you double-click a row, N4 displays the Equipment Inspector (on page 1) for the selected equipment.
If the most recent unit is Active (on page 1), the Position column can be considered to show the current real-time position of the equipment. If the most recent unit is Departed, the Position column displays the following:
C-<routing point> ex:<facility name>: For equipment associated with a unit that departed by truck or train
Where C represents a Loc Type of COMMUNITY
S-<vessel> ex:<facility name>: For equipment associated with a unit that departed by vessel
Where S represents a Loc Type of AT SEA
In addition, you can use the Actions menu to update the equipment state as follows:
Update Damages: To add, edit, or delete damages for the selected equipment.
Update Holds/Permissions: To add/release a hold or grant/cancel a permission for the selected equipment. In the Update Hold/Permission form (on page 1, on page 1), N4 displays only the holds/permissions that apply to Equipment entity. To update the holds/permissions for a Unit, select the Update Holds/Permissions option on the All Uses tab (on page 1) or in the Unit Inspector (on page 1).
Equipment Details: To update the ownership and other details for the selected equipment.
